Detective Department of Chandannagar Police Commissionerate, headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detective Department), is an integral part of this Commissionerate since its creation and it functions under the direct supervision of the Commissioner of Police with a view to combat crime and criminal activities, especially relating to the rapid growth of urbanization and industrialization .
Detective Department looks into the detection, detailed & thorough investigation and prosecution of all sensational crimes & white collar offences in the Chandannagar Police Commissionerate jurisdiction and any other offence as directed by the Commissioner of Police on the basis of the gravity for early and quick
detection so as to allow the citizens of the area a more safe and secure civil life. DD Keeps sharp vigil on the notorious criminals, potential budding criminals and on the probable hiding pockets of those criminals within and outside the Chandannagar Police Commissionerate area. DD maintains regular liaison and exchanges crime criminal information with SOGs of districts and DDs of other Police Commissionerate of the State of WB to combat crimes and criminals. DD is also dedicated to combat professional criminals whose operations extend beyond the limits of the state. DD assists the IOs of the Police Stations in investigation of crimes of special nature as and when desired by the Commissioner of Police.
